On 3rd to 5th of November 2006, the Chicago Humanities Festival in conjunction with the Irish Fellowship Club and the Irish consulate hosted an 'O'Neill Symposium' to mark the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls. Organised by Caroline Cracraft, Tom O'Gorman and Rosie O'Neill, the weekend was a tremendous success with social events provided courtesy of Rosie O'Neill and Bridget Flanagan as well as the Honourable Ed Burke and Justice Anne Burke. Dom Hugo O'Neill, chief of the Clandeboy O'Neills attended.

Among the speakers were Hiram Morgan, John McCavitt, Jerrold Casway, Vincent Carey, Clare Carroll, Hans Pawlisch, Father Tom O'Connor, Breandán Ó Buachalla and Valerie McGowan Doyle.
